My name is Krystal and I am 12 years old. I joined the choir last August because I love music. I learned to play the violin at school when I was in third grade. Now, I take piano lessons and I love to sing. My mom took me to hear Harmonies one day and I really loved how they sang. Antonio Espinal, the choir founder, invited me to try out and I was accepted. All the girls welcomed me and I made friends with them immediately. People say we “sing like angels!” The most exciting part of being a member of Harmonies is that we get to perform for the community, and also at very important places like the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, the LA City Hall and on TV. Last December we appeared on Univision and on KCET. Although we live in low-income communities, we love singing and work hard to achieve great things. I am very excited that this summer we will go to Italy to perform, to see the places where Western classical art was born, and to make new friends. |
