Why I Love Music
By Alegria Guadalupe P. Jimenez
Music is a big part of my life because I played violin since I was three and a half years old. I also wanted to take voice lessons but I was still too young. Now I’m eight years old so I get to be with the Harmonies and I get a lot of music in my ears each week. Now I want to learn guitar. I love music because it always makes me feel very independent. Singing always makes me forget about the bad times. When I’m sick and I sing it makes me feel better. It’s so much fun to be able to sing with the Harmonies and talk to them about fun things. I especially wanted to sing when the girls went to Mexico and Europe. (I was still seven) And really I did get kind of jealous but it was fun watching them as well. I remember when we went to a museum in Mexico (Bellas Artes) I got so into the paintings that I cried because the girls had to leave to do a performance (in another building). I think I should tell you something if you’re going to Europe! Don’t eat a lot of sausages. But always look out for some really good desserts. Music is so much fun because sometimes it is challenging but after a while it gets easier. When I started reading music I thought it was going to be the hardest thing that anyone can learn. But after a bit of practicing it was fun to know that I could read music. So thanks to my sister being in Harmonies I started to sing, too.
