Harmonies CD
Villancicos of Traditional Latin America European release, June 18 2007. US release, October 9

The Choir

“Harmonies Girls Choir” is an independent all-girls choral arts organization based in Los Angeles, California, USA. The choir is comprised of girls ages 8 through 18 under the musical direction of orchestral and choral conductor Maestro Antonio Espinal, founder of the choir. Established in 2002, HARMONIES is one of the most dynamic and versatile girl's choirs in the city of Los Angeles.

Maestro Espinal is focused on expanding young girl's minds through a deep appreciation for beautiful music, a challenging vocal music education and rewarding performance experiences. This includes the exposure to a world outside of the inner city via national and international tours. The choir covers a variety of musical styles including classical, contemporary, avant-garde, popular songs, Broadway, spirituals, sacred music, and traditional songs from Europe and Latin America. Maestro Espinal keeps the pieces as "pure" as possible by making sure the songs are sung in the original languages.

Funny facts about our CD

Our CD was first released as an independent production under the name FESTEJO DE NAVIDAD (Christmas Festivity). Then, a major FRENCH label distributed it internationally, releasing it on June 18th, 2007 as "POR EL VALLE DE ROSAS" (On the valley of Roses). Finally, the CD was released in the American continent with the name "NAVIDAD EN ESPAÑOL" (Christmas in Spanish). So, our exciting CD has 3 names!

Our International CD, was officially released in France at the Top Classical Music International "Festival de Saint- Denis 2007 " on the day of our performance.

The French label MILAN JADE has signed a contract with our music director Antonio Espinal with his Harmonies Girls Choir to be part of the roster of exclusive artists under this prestigious label. We hope this will be the begining of a sucessful series of music projects. Wait for our second CD under preparation!

Read a Professional review (In French) of our sucessful Concert at the Saint Denis Festival (Paris) on June 18. The concert took place at the magnificent Saint Denis Basilique on a 2 hours all Mexican/Californian music concert, with an audience of over 900 people! HARMONIES was the only American Choir invited to perform there, on a Festival which included the KRONOS QUARTET, Conductors Gustavo Dudamel, Kurt Masur, and singer Dawn Upshaw.
